Infrastructure development has largely been the domain of Governments' activities, hitherto. However, funding constraints and other causes, have forced governments to look for alternative means of infrastructure development. Privatisation is one way to overcome this problem, which is recently being adopted on a large scale in India. In this field, SOWiL Limited has gained valuable experience by virtue of their close association and interaction with Sir Owen Williams International, who have been in the forefront of highway privatisation in U.K. and are engaged by the Department of Transport, U.K. as their agent for the construction of the Birmingham Northern Relief Road, have also advised the Bulgarian Government, the Government of Israel and assisted the State of Arizona on highway privatisation and are currently technical adviser to six major banks, namely Dai-Ichi, Kangyo, Lloyds, Credit Suisse, Indo-Suez, ABN Amro, National Westminster, for the largest DBFO (Design-Build-Finance-Operate ) contract in the U. K.

SOWiL Limited, in association with Sir Owen Williams International, U.K., presented a paper for the Indian Merchants Chamber, Mumbai, on the subject of “The Privatisation of Roads - the Consultant’s Experience In the seminar, the apprehensions, compulsions and a suitable methodology to approach the problem of private financing of infrastructure projects in India, were highlighted.

Drawing on this vast experience, SOWiL Limited has acquired all the requisite expertise for rendering consultancy on all facets of " Private Financing ". In the recent past, the Company has provided consultancy services for Karmala bypass and Mangi Bridge in Maharashtra, being implemented on BOT basis, as well as advisory services to Zoom Developers for BOT bridges in Gujarat. 20 Projects have been examined for BOT implementation thereafter.
